Starting in year 2000, the Institute began to operate the Innovation Relay Centre of Cyprus and to participate in several European projects. It had very strong links with the industry and the business consultants of Cyprus as well as the government and the important energy market players in the island. It was closed in 200x by the Government of Tassos Papadopoullos and its operations transferred at the Research Promotion Foundation.
