The Cyprus Institute of Technology was founded in 1992 by the Government of President Vasilleiou and registered as a private non profit Institute under the 1972 law of Clubs and Institutions. It was established as a response to the challenging and highly competitive environment that the Cyprus economy was facing. Starting in year 2000, the Institute began to operate the Innovation Relay Centre of Cyprus and to participate in several European projects. It had very strong links with the industry and the business consultants of Cyprus as well as the government and the important energy market players in the island. It was closed in 200x by the Government of Tassos Papadopoullos and its operations transferred at the Research Promotion Foundation.
The Cyprus Institute of Technology was established by three co-founders:
- Ministry of Commerce Industry and Tourism
- Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEBE)
- Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB).
The CIT Vision
